Title: The relationship between higher education quality and the internationalization of universities
Abstract:

Stratification and status competition are prevalent dynamics among higher education institutions. However, nuanced analyses of the strategies that universities employ to evaluate, improve and communicate their quality remain limited. This presentation discusses the ways in which Western universities gain legitimacy, with a focus on some of the most prestigious higher education institutions in North America, namely the members of the Association of American Universities (AAU).

By focusing on the construction of legitimacy in North American higher education institutions, some lessons learned will be shared with the audience. Of particular interest is the relationship between quality and internationalization. As such, the impact of accreditation processes and rankings will be extensively discussed.
