Title: Panel Data Approach for Measuring the Average Treatment Effects with Multiple Treated Units
Abstract:
We consider the aggregation of treatment effects for multiple treated units in this paper, and we suggest three different approaches to aggregate the treatment effects, namely, the simple average, aggregation based on the eigenvectors corresponding to the largest and smallest eigenvalues of the underlying data. Monte Carlo simulations suggest that aggregation based on the eigenvector corresponding to the smallest eigenvalue of the underlying data produces comparatively lower bias and MSE, and aggregation based on the eigenvector corresponding to the largest eigenvalue of the underlying data produces comparatively larger bias and MSE, while aggregation using simple average lies in between. Monte Carlo simulations confirm our theoretical results and application to the impact of policy changes on China's online P2P performance highlights the difference based on different aggregation methods.
Biography:
Dr. Qiankun Zhou is an associate professor of Economics at the Department of Economics of Ourso College of Business at the Louisiana State University. He was awarded the PhD in Economics from the University of Southern California in August 2015. Dr. Zhou's main research goal is to develop econometric tools and methods that can be implemented by applied economists or scholars using econometric tools. His research can be classified into four fields: econometric analysis of static panel models; econometric analysis of dynamic panel models; panel model with interactive effects; nonparametric/semiparametric estimation of panel models. Dr. Zhou has published over a dozen of scientific papers in the international recognized prestigious journals, including Journal of Econometrics, Journal of Applied Econometrics, Econometric Theory, Econometric Reviews, Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, etc.,. Because of his achievement in the academic research, Dr. Zhou was awarded the Research Excellence Award from the Ourso College of Business in the academic year 2017-2018 and the Gregory C. Chow Best Paper Award from The Chinese Economists Society in the year of 2019.
