| Title: Modifying cardiovasular biomaterials surface with HA for better endothelial microenvironment | |
| Abstract: Cardiovascular disease is generally accepted as the leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide, and lots of people suffer from atherosclerosis and thrombosis every year. To treat these disorders and prolong the patients’ life, the cardiovascular stents have been developed and applied clinically. Nevertheless, thrombosis and hyperplasia at the site of implanting cardiovascular stents are recognized as long-term problems in the practice of interventional cardiology. Although the drug-eluting stents make excellent contribution to treat early thrombosis and inflammation, the loading drugs also delay vascular healing and endothelialization, leading to high risk of late thrombosis and hyperplasia. Recent researches show that stent surface modification with functional molecules can significantly improve surface endothelialization and reduce the late thrombosis/ hyperplasia, and this process is closely related to the crucial parameters of the conjugated molecules, including the molecular classification, weight, distributed density and conformation. Therefore, the surface construction of functional molecules is of great importance for improving the biocompatibility of the cardiovascular stents. Here, we introduced a novel strategy on surface modification of cardiovascular biomaterials in our research group and discuss the prospects for extending use of the surface construction with HA. | Biography: Dr. Jingan Li is a professor of Zhengzhou University, China, and his research filed include: biomaterials. So far, he has published more than 50 academic papers on international academic journals as the first author or corresponding author, including ACS Applied Materials & Interface, Bioactive Materials, and Journal of Materials Chemistry B, etc. He has served as the editorial board member of 10 journals, such as Biomed Research International (Lead Guest Editor), Recent Patents on Nanotechnology, Current Drug Delivery (Executive Guest Editor), and Smart Materials in Medicine. He has also served as the reviewer of more than 30 academic journals. He was invited to attend more than 20 international academic conference as plenary speaker, keynote speaker, organizing committee member, technical program committee and session chair.
