Title: Gastric pre-cancer diagnostics by the novel bio-detection system, PepTenChip®, followed by statistical analyses, not depending on disease-related marker molecules
Abstract:
The novel bio-detection system, designated PepTenChip® uses labelled structured peptides as capturing molecules. Recognition by designed peptide-library immobilized on a novel chip (made from amorphous carbon) generates fluorescent intensity changes with and without analytes, which can be converted into bar-coded, protein fingerprints[1,2]. Using this unique system L-type atypical BSE was successfully differentiated from classical BSE and scrapie[3]. Recently four basic key technologies for bio-detection have been successfully completed: peptide libraries for capture molecules, novel chip material with optimized surface chemistry, a high throughput arraying technology and construction of a small portable detector (PepTenCam). We applied this technology to rapidly and objectively determine and differentiate gastric pre-cancer states. PepTenChip® can play powerful diagnostic tools and provide an objective indicator not depending on clinician’s skill. PepTenChip® may realize health care of heavy diseases/elderly peoples, who cannot explain their problems to their doctors. The present novel PepTenCam is not only for clinical use but can be also applied in field and home-medical care settings.
