Title: 21st century skills in distance education
Abstract:
The pandemic process the world is facing has adversely affected individuals and institutions. Educational institutions are also one of the institutions that concern students of all educational levels. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the vast majority of countries shifted to distance education in the second half of the 2019-2020 academic year. Countries have chosen to plan the distance education process under the following main headings: a) Learning losses caused by the interruption of formal education b) Physical conditions and infrastructure facilities required for distance education c) Measures taken for the healthy continuation of distance education at all levels of education d) Learning tools, learning resources and learning methods used in distance education. Due to the current situation, the knowledge and behaviours expected from students have also changed. On the other hand, students who are at the centre of distance education must have some skills in order to adapt to the new education system. These skills defined as "Information, Media and Technology Skills", "Learning and Renewal Skills" and "Life and Professional Skills" are 21st century skills that students must possess to be successful in the developing and renewed information age.
